Greetings. You are bidding on the original art for the daily comic strip THE MIDDLES written by Bob Karp and drawn by THEODORE "LYNN" KARP.
Publication Information and Description: This particular daily comic strip was apparently published on May 10th (year unknown), and features four panels. The artwork area is approximately 16” by 5”. The strip is signed "Lynn Karp" and is not dated (May 10 is written on the reverse). The strip is © by the Consolidated News Features. There is no copyright indicia on the art.
This is NOT a copy or stat or proof. This is the original art, drawn (pen and ink) by Lynn Karp. Wonderful pen and ink work by a master animator and comic strip artist. An excellent example of an uncommon strip.
This strip features a grouchy shopper who should've spent the extra money for an egg carton. Being frugal is good, but being a tightwad is not so good.
Character and Artist Information:
THE MIDDLES was an American comic strip which ran from 1944 to 1955. Written by Bob Karp and drawn by his brother Lynn Karp for its entire run. The strip focused on the trials, tribulations and foibles of post-war middle-class American life.
Theodore "Lynn" Karp (1905-1992) was an American artist and animator. He worked for the Disney Studios from 1936-1942 and is a credited artist on Pinocchio and Fantasia among other Disney classics. He was also one of the primary animators of Pluto during that period. Karp later drew comic book stories, primarily in the 'funny animal' genre. The characters he drew included Woody Woodpecker, Oswald Rabbit, Tom & Jerry and Dennis the Menace.
Condition: This art is in overall excellent condition. There are no stats or paste-overs, white-out or corrections. Full margins all around. Minor spots, smudges and stains to art. Paper label on reverse indicates printing instructions.
Don’t let this one pass you by. A ‘must' for Disney or Karp fans, comic book or strip or illustration art collectors, or anyone who appreciates a well executed piece of American pop culture art.
