AN AMAZING PIECE WITH AN AMAZING STORY!
This is the final battle sequence from the last issue of the highly acclaimed Batman series, The Cult. Art by Bernie Wrightson and Bill Wray, written by Jim Starlin and signed by all three!
This was purchased from the original owner who got this directly from Bernie Wrightson. Here is the note that was in the mylar sleeve this piece is stored in.

-- "This was purchased from Bernie Wrightson in 1990 at New York City Comic Con and then signed there by Bernie Wrightson (illustrator), Jim Starlin (writer) and Bill Wray (colorist).

Bernie Wrightson had to be begged to sell the art as it was the page that they had on display. Beautiful, one of a kind.

Batman The Cult original final page art. Vol 4, page 42, 9 different scenes of Batman. This final page consists of the bottom page (color art) and the plastic, acrylic overlay (black inks).

This was one of the first times that they had produced a prestige format limited series like this. I have never seen other pages like this offered for sale before." --

This came from a collection that contains many thousands of pieces dating back to the 1920s, and was collected over a lifetime, so the final lines of his note are quite remarkable, considering the amount of art this collector had owned and seen in his many decades collecting.

The painted colors behind the overlay are vibrant and have to be seen in person to be appreciated. This is the kind of piece that you can't appreciate without seeing it in person. A lot of people say that about artwork, but this piece really defines that statement. If you remove the overlay to just look at the color work that was done here, it will make your jaw drop.

I feel extremely fortunate to have stumbled across this piece.

It is oversized, large art. It measures 12x18 for the painted board, and the overlay is 11x17.

Just a really cool piece with a great story behind it, and signed by all three creators of such a monumental Batman story at the same show. I'm proud to be only the second person to ever own this piece, especially since it has been hidden away since 1990 in a private collection that no one ever had access to.
I hate to part with this, but the holidays demand extra income, and it has to come from somewhere.
I do not ship internationally
