Will Eisner born in Brooklyn, New York, March 1917, his first comic book appeared in WOW, What a comic in 1936.
Eisner was offered a syndicated newspaper comics section of his own in 1939. The syndicated comics section became the "Comic Book Section" and the first SPIRIT story appeared on Sunday 2 June, 1940.  This sixteen page insert, developed by EIsner also contained two other strips: "Lady Luck" and "Mr Mystic"
This auction of for 66 original pull out section during 1940 and 1941, also included is thirty one black & white collectors  comic book sections that was reprinted for collectors . One of these black and white copies is a copy of the first issue which was Sunday 2, June 1940.
I am not an comic book expert but will do my best to answer any questions or I would love to send you more photos.  You are getting original pull 0uts from the RECORD Philadelphia comic book section.  To follow are the issues included in this auction for the original pull out sections.

There is some fraying on the very outside of a page or two on about 9 pages of the above issues.  Again please emai for more photos to show condition since as I said I am not an expert on how comics are graded.
The black and white collector ones are mint they were protected in a pastic bags in the middle of the originals so they were very protected.
