This is the original art page for the classic Amazing Spider-Man #300, published by Marvel Comics in May of 1988. This is a truly classic page featuring Spidey in battle with Venom. This is Pg. 40, and is one of the best pages from the entire issue, with Spidey and/or Venom in every single panel. ASM 300 is of course the all-time classic issue that introduced Venom, one of Spidey's greatest villains, and told his origin story. The issue is also some of Todd McFarlane's earliest work on Spiderman, as he began in issue #298. The page has a great splashy large second panel featuring a classic image of Spidey in his black costume, and another great action image of Spidey delivering a powerful kick to knock Venom off the top of the church. The page is signed in the bottom right corner by McFarlane, who did full artwork (pencils and inks) on the page.

McFarlane first became well-known drawing Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-man, and Spiderman, before leaving Marvel Comics to co-found Image Comics, w he created the Spawn franchise. But among all the art he did throughout the years, t is little question that his Spiderman art is most prized among collectors. And this is a truly outstanding piece with great images and everything you could possibly want in a TM page. T is some use of whiteout in the first and last panels, and the page is clipped across the top left edge as was common practice for artwork of the time. The page is in very good overall condition. MacFarlane Spiderman art rarely surfaces for sale, especially since Todd apparently held onto much of his art. And particularly outstanding pages like this one really do not come up for sale in the open marketplace. With the recent Spider-man 3 movie (which featured Venom as a key villain), and the huge event in Civil War of Spidey revealing his Peter Parker secret identity to the world, Spiderman collectibles and artwork are only continuing to increase in value.
