Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent VF- 7.5 Extensive (P) Off-white to white pages. Currently ranked #3 on Overstreet's list of the most valuable Golden Age comics, Superman #1 represents the first time that a character created for comic books was given his own series. The cover image, by Joe Shuster is famous, and the back cover pin-up is the first one in the history of comics! Of course, kids couldn't resist cutting this out to hang on their walls, so despite a documented print run of one million copies, it's a difficult book to find intact, and in high grade. Unrestored copies, with comparable eye appeal, are all but unheard-of: among unrestored copies certified to date, only seven exceed this numerical grade. Included with this copy are significant bragging rights, and this professionally restored specimen is most certainly one to show off to everyone who appreciates the significance of the character in American popular culture. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, piece s added, tear seals, cleaned, re-glossed." Overstreet 2016 GD 2.0 value = $70,000; VG 4.0 value = $140,000; FN 6.0 value = $280,000; VF 8.0 value = $500,000.
