Powerman and Iron Fist 100 CBCS Graded 9.8 Rare Double Cover!!

Item Description

Ok, after a bit of hiatus from eBay, I'm back again. First kid off to college last year, 2 to go. Any pictures above don't necessarily appear in comic(s) for sale. They are just for fun. If you are single, I also can't guarantee that any male or female superhero that might be pictured above is going swing by your house or deliver your comics to you personally.

Here is a nice item from my comic collection. Don't buy at high prices from full time dealers who make their living off selling comics. Instead, buy from me, someone who cares about fun, fandom, and treating others as you would like to be treated. You will find that over the coming weeks and months that I am putting up some great books (mainly bronze and silver age and many high grade and even some CGC/CBCS graded comics and/or first appearances including early Avengers graded comics, Iron Man 1, Iron Man Submariner 1, Nick Fury 1, Jimmy Olsen 134 , and other Darkseid appearances, 1st Giant Man, 1st Scott Lang Ant-man (Marvel Premiere 47, 48 and other appearances), 1st appearance of Cain, 1st Gamora (Strange Tales 180), 1st Rocket Raccoon, 1st Supergirl prototype, 1st Guardians of the Galaxy (Marvel Super-Heroes 18)--and other appearances, Neal Adams, Jim Starlin and Bernie Wrightson comics, 1st Star Lord and other appearances, 1st Ms. Marvel and 1st Carol Danvers (Marvel Super-Heroes 13), 1st Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu (Special Marvel Edition 15), 1st Groot, 1st Omac, 1st Deadpool, many 1970s first issues, 1st Warlock, 1st Him, 1st Red Sonja, 1st Lobo, 1st Warlord, 1st Powerman, 1st Nightwing, 1st Deathstroke (New Teen Titans 2), 1st Howard the Duck (Fear 19), 1st New Teen Titans (DC Comics Presents 26), 1st Thanos (Iron Man 55), 1st Magus (Strange Tales 178), 1st Rogue (Avengers Annual 10), 1st Rose and Thorn, 1st Psylocke, 1st Spiderwoman, and many more with some silver and modern age sprinkled in) as I thin out my collection including many comics with 99 cent minimum bids as well as Buy it Now comics. I have been collecting comics since the early to mid 1970s. I thinned out a bunch of my undervalued high grade bronze age comics on eBay in the late 1990s and early 2000s to rave reviews and I am back at it again. Many of my books I got rid of were CGCed by the buyers and are the 9.4 & 9.6 and 9.8 CGC graded comics you may find on eBay today going for stupid money. I always would buy multiples of my favourite books off the stands or local shop and look for the highest grade possible. That is why I have had many duplicates in my collection. In other cases, I am just getting rid of certain titles. In addition to the great seller feedback in recent years, you can also go back to my early feedback (before eBay distinguished between seller/buyer feedback) and you will see such comments as "bid with confidence" "big scans", "undergrading", "silly fun" "simply the best on eBay" "thanks for the bonuses"... Yeah I know I sometimes spend more time than I should designing an auction layout for a 99 cent comic with logos and fun, but that is what comics is all about, sharing the fun! Ok, I realize if I spent more time listing rather than messing with logos, I'd sell more comics but gotta have some fun. So what can you expect when you buy a comic from me? Well, it has likely been part of my quest to find the best books and best condition possible. While in my possession, it has been stored in mylars, mylites, or acid free bags with a backing board upright.

This comic is Powerman and Iron Fist 100 from 1983 (double cover), and is now 33 years old. This issue retells the origin of Power Man and Iron Fist and also has an appearance by Misty Knight. What makes this so special is the DOUBLE COVER. Oversteet Guide doesn't list double cover copies. Who knows if another one exists. I decided to try the new grading company founded by Steve Borock. I have always had mixed feelings about grading companies especially with what I saw as real inconsitency in grading by CGC during some times (and in particular overgrading by CGC). Seem to be overgrading if it was graded at a convention or for particular dealers. So my experience with CBCS so far is great. While some may say they are more conservative, and I think this may be true, I find that the most important thing is that they are consistent in their grading of books. Some folks would just say plain more accurate. With the graders notes feature, that also helps with accountability. Sometimes my scanner will make the comics look different especially blacks as it trys to pick up texture. Other times the depth of the cover or case (for graded comics) can make things look wonky. So you may have a shinny black cover in real life but the scan looks grainy. In the case of scanning CBCS/CGC graded books, because of the depth issue, there will be some reflection either at the top of the book or bottom of the book depending on its orientation when I scanned it. Great investment comic!

I COMBINE SHIPPING costs, so if you win multiples, please wait and I will invoice you for the combined items. All comics are usually mailed Priority mail. Additional comics often do not add to shipping costs. However, I may list some 99 cent bids as First Class mail and use 13 ounces in the calculator. I usually throw in books for free and just work around and up to wait limit. If you buy multiple comics, I likely will ship Priority mail.

A must for the hard core collector. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I have either put a Buy it Now option for those who don't want to get into a bidding war with another collector or don't want to risk losing to all those people who wait until the last second to bid or listed this item as a Buy it Now listing. I will have some more superhero items up as well as Alan Parsons Project memorabilia up for auction as well as other items by Genesis and other bands i the weeks and months to come.

In general, I will be able to ship it out immediately and have normal 1 business shipping within the USA. However, in the rare occassion I am out of town for the week with my job, I will ship immediately when I return. Consequently, I have checked 5 business days option just in case.

Who am I and Who is Blue Yonder Comics?

I have been a comic book, toy, and record collector on and off since I started collecting as a kid in the early/mid 1970s. Comic books (and those by Neal Adams in particular) and mego action figures were a big part of my childhood. I have over 2800 positive feedback marks (100% positive). When eBay first started off I was selling huge chunks of my comic collection/inventory. So about the first 500 or so of my positive feedback marks were for selling comic books as you can see. This is before eBay tracked/differentiated between buying and selling feedback. If you go look at my early and recent selling feedback you will see that I always packaged well, undergraded, and was just an all around swell guy. I also set up regularly at comic conventions in the Southeast in the mid/late 1990s to the early 2000s where I unloaded my NM & Mint duplicate Bronze Age books at dirt cheap prices before they started to skyrocket in the Overstreet Guide and below grading and encapsulating comics became common. Over the last number of years, I have also been selling my mego collection bit by bit on eBay and will put up the rest of those up as well as more comics. Blue Yonder Comics (formerly Bronze Age Beauties) is now back going strong on the internet, on eBay, and at conventions. Over the coming months, we will continue to offer the best high grade silver and bronze age (both raw and graded-specializing in CBCS graded books) comics we can for you. And of course, for you music collectors can expect some Alan Parsons Project and other music related items for sale also.

If you have any questions about this item or any other items or want more pictures please contact me.

What are the terms and conditions of this sale?

Winning bidder to pay via Pay Pal or Credit Cards (through PayPal). Payment is required within 3 days of auction close. If payment in full is not received (unless other arrangements are made) within this time period, then I have the right to make the auction null and void and offer to next highest bidder or my neighbor's pet iguana if I choose. I will generally ship items immediately once payment is received. However, it may take up to 7 days (in the rare occassion that I am out of town on business for a week). Also, if I know I am getting in a payment via PayPal in the evening from another auction, I may put off mailing a day, so I can mail multiple auctions at the same time. I just don't want to go to the post office every day. In general (because I also sell music cds, I put no refunds on my listings. However, given eBay provides you buyer protection, I will provide refunds if there is something wrong and I have misrepesented the book. I take high resolution scans and photos so you know what you are getting and rarely put definitive grades so you can judge for yourself. You need to contact me right away, but don't damage the book and/or try to send a different book back for a refund. I videotape the opening of any return to protect myself from those few slimey characters out there who are dishonest and I will block them from bidding on my items in the future. I will report anyone who practices monkey business to eBay. eBay now watches buyers more closely. I am a buyer myself, so I want everyone to be above board. If I sell a set, if you have a problem, then you will genearlly need to send the whole set back. While I at times may give a partial refund, in general, you will need to send the book back for a full refund. I am not interested in those who want to play games. Contact me within 2 days if there is a problem and if everyting is legit, then I would expect you to send the return within a few days of my giving you the thumbs up. Please let the pictures dictate the quality of the items. I have tried to take very detailed pictures or scans so the winner will be happy. Please ask for more pictures if needed or want larger pictures or if you have any other questions.

All prospective buyers, please ask questions prior to buying.

CBCS Versus CGC Grading?

I have thousands of comics that I plan to send to CBCS for grading. While I have used CGC for grading in the past, have purchased CGC books, and have many in my collection or in stock, at this point, I prefer to go with the newer company CBCS that was founded by former CGC head Steve Borock. Why? Where in general, I will call it the 3 Cs. I think the company is Careful, Conservative, and Consistent in their grading. I think their grader's notes function helps keep them accountabile. And I don't worry about overgrading by CBCS. I have been baffled sometimes by the grading when I received some books back from CGC or when I received a book I purchased from eBay that was graded by CGC. I'd sometimes ask myself what planet was the grader on when the book was graded? Was it graded quickly at a convention? Was a prescreener or grader watching a YouTube cat video at the time? While I have seen undergrading also on CGC's part before, it is usually overgrading. Don't get me wrong, CGC has been the standard in the business for a long time and can accurately grade comics. I just personally prefer the conistentancy and conservatism of CBCS at this time. Click on some examples below to see where I question the grading of a book by CGC. I wouldn't grade a Green Lantern 76 (as CGC did) with the tons of ticks/stress marks along the spine, bottom right corner crease, and other visible wear on the front cover as a 9.0. If you look on eBay you will find some GL 76 comics graded 9.2 by CGC that are even worse than this CGC 9.0 below. Same thoughts on the Jimmy Olsen 134 graded 9.0 by CGC and on that one, did we forget to turn the comic over and look at the back cover? In the end, I think quality competition makes the whole grading industry better. So I am glad CBCS is here as an alternative.

How do I ship?

For US sales, delivery confirmation is included. Use the calculator for US shipping/handling costs. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING on this item. I usually send comics via priority mail.
