PAT BOYETTE (1923 - 2000) was already in his 40s when he began working in comic books. After working as a film maker for a while, he finally turned to comics with regular work at Charlton where he drew titles such as The Phantom , Flash Gordon , Ghost Manor , Ghostly Tales , Haunted , Jungle Jim , Outer Space , Space Adventure and Thunderbolt . He began Peacemaker as a backup in Fightin' Five , but the feature soon got its own title. When Charlton's Dick Giordano left for DC, Boyette went with him, landing titles such as Blackhawk , The Unexpected and Witching Hour . For Warren he had work in Eerie , Creepy and Vampirella . He also drew Korak for the European market. In the 1980s, he joined ACE comics and later did horror stories for Gladstone's Grave Tales and Dread of Night in the 1990s, plus some work for Valiant. This is the original art for page 4 of the story entitled "Rancor and the Seven Shadows of Flash Gordon," from Flash Gordon #14, published by Charlton in 1969. The art is in very good condition with light overall wear and aging. The image area measures 10" x 15".
