Description

We will combine orders after the auction.

Offered this week are over 1,200 Silver Age, Bronze Age and Copper Age Comic Books from a private collection. The books have been very well-preserved over the last 30-60 years--the vast majority were bagged and boarded since the original purchase. Most of the books are Marvel titles, but there are books by Epic, Darkhorse, DC (just a few) and several First Comics titles.

There are also 7 CGC graded Silver Age books. Thanks for bidding!

Title: Incredible Hulk

Issue #: 115

Grade: CGC 9.4 Near Mint

Publisher: Marvel

Condition: While this example has some of the very minor condition issues expected in this grade range, I would put this 13-year old encapsulation up against books of grades .2 pt better. It's a stunner for the range. A very respectable book with great presentation value. ONLY 55 COPIES IN THE WORLD GRADED BETTER!

Highlights: The Hulk, whose original series The Incredible Hulk had been canceled after a six-issue run in 1962–63, returned to star in his own feature after sharing Tales to Astonish with the Sub-Mariner from issue #60 to #101.

The story in the offered Incredible Hulk #115 was written by Stan Lee, with cover art by Herb Trimpe. The story features the Hulk's arch-nemesis THE LEADER, as well as Betty Ross, Thunderbolt Ross and The Watcher. Trivia: This is the first and last appearance of the Avengers Mansion cleaning lady. Traditionally all tasks at the mansion were performed by Edwin Jarvis.

About Rockhurst Rhode

My name is Jeff Marren, and I have been a collector since childhood-comics, stamps, movie posters, baseball cards (honestly I collected baseball cards just long enough to sell my brother's cards when I was 14. I bought some killer speakers, which he ended up with anyway). I have worked in the auction industry since the late 1990s, and I've been exposed to a wide range of collectibles including, but not limited to, movie posters, baseball memorabilia, autographs, fine art, comic books, and historical documents.

My experience and passion for collectibles guide me in terms of presenting material in the manner in which I as a collector would like to see it offered at auction. From the photos to the descriptions to the condition breakdown, I just ask myself "what would I need to know to make a bidding decision," and that's what goes into the item page. I do the research to be able to describe items with the appropriate context for the buyer.

All that said, I am always open to pertinent information concerning the auction items. So feel free to contact me if you feel some detail would be helpful to an item I am selling. I still work in the auction industry, but these eBay auctions are solely my endeavor and have no connection with any other company.

About our Autographed Offerings

All autographed items are sold only after being reviewed by a third party authentication firm such as Beckett Authentic, PSA DNA, James Spence Authentication or Upper Deck Authenticated. Each signed item will be accompanied by either an LOA or COA from one of these companies.

About our Shipping Policies

We ship all orders with FedEx Ground or USPS, and include Delivery Confirmation if indicated in the description. The shipping rate is shown on each eBay listing, but we will combine orders for one shipping price after the auction. Each item will be protected for shipping using quality packing materials to ensure they arrive in the condition described above.

A few reasons NOT to bid

The biggest source of grief in an auction transaction is questions asked after the fact. Please feel free to ask any question not covered clearly by the item description and photo BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR BID. We will answer them as promptly as we can. Our goal is to offer quality vintage material, describe it properly, ship it promptly after payment, and leave the bidder satisfied with their winnings. So, in the spirit of avoiding unnecessary conflicts AFTER an auction (when they are much more complicated for all parties to resolve) here are a few reasons not to bid in this auction:

• I don't agree with the Condition Description. Don't bid. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but whatever you do don't buy an item you already think you don't like for some reason. It's a sure-fire recipe for unhappiness.

• I don't agree with the shipping cost. Don't bid. We attempt to make the cost of shipping reasonable for the bidder and a break-even situation for us in terms of postal charges and packaging, and we will combine items when possible. Please don't contact us after the auction to request a different shipping method or price.

• I don't think the item is original. Don't bid. If you think there is a problem with the item offered in terms of its authenticity, please contact us. But don't bid on an item you think may be a reproduction.

• No one got back to me when I emailed a question. Don't bid. We will make every effort to contact any bidder who asks for more information, but in the unlikely event that your question goes unanswered before the auction's conclusion, don't bid.

The goal here is to complete a transaction where we are all satisfied.
