- Faint smudge on lower right corner of cover
- The spine is in excellent shape with no splits or wear
- Inside covers are a uniform off-white/white with NO edge tanning
- Pages are bone white with sharp corners
- Centerfold is tight; shiny staples
- The back cover is glossy and white with two faint corner folds ( see all photos )
This mega-key features the 1st appearance of Doctor Doom and also contains a full color, full-page ad for The Incredible Hulk #1. This comic was purchased from the original owner who drove from central Virginia all the way to Wilmington, N.C., to sell us his collection after a local dealer offered him "a thousand bucks for the whole lot". Lucky for us, the first offer was only about 1/60th of the value that we came up with for the books, so we were able to purchase the entire collection for a fair price, and our seller from Virginia was very happy he got a second opinion.
This copy is about as nice as they come, and based on CGC census numbers, this copy will rank at the top end of the spectrum with few challengers. It looks close to the NM range but there are a couple of faint creases on the back cover which could possibly be improved with pressing. Comic is 100% guaranteed to have NO RESTORATION of any kind!
At the most recent Comic-Con International it was announced that there were plans to develop a Doctor Doom solo movie. If this deal goes through, this issue will no doubt bloom into a super high-demand key ( remember how affordable books like Avengers #1 - 1st Avengers, Tales To Astonish #13 - 1st Groot, etc. were before the movie plans were leaked? ). Mads Mikkelsen ( Doctor Strange, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ) has expressed an interest in playing the bad doctor in the film. Now that Marvel's parent company has picked up the movie rights to the Fantastic Four, the future of the franchise looks, well, fantastic!
