Description

1st cover appearance of the Joker in costume.  He made a cover appearance on Detective Comics Issue # 40 but he was wearing a trenchcoat and looked like a character out of the "Watchmen" as you couldn't tell who he was.  On cover 62, he explodes in all his glory wearing his famous make-up and purple suit with green shirt.  Detective Comics # 62 is one of the few grails in the Batman universe and is an absolute must-have.  No other villain is loved by fans and scared by his antics in the entire comic universe as the Joker is.  He is easily the greatest villain in comic history.  This high grade comic came out in April 1942 and was graded by CGC a 7.0 (check the population report, you are getting one of the best copies out there!).  The serial # is 1156772002.  The crease in this comic is very nice and well centered; personally I think it grades at a 8.0 but these comics from the 1940s as this one is almost 75 years old!  Shipping with online signature confirmation and insurance is $35.  Backstory on this issue, titled "Laugh, Town, Laugh" turns out to be no laughing matter.  Joker is just downright vicious.

Comedian Happy Hanson dies and wills his fortune to five comedians in Gotham, who must solve clue to obtain the prize. The Joker breaks out of jail and pursues the prize as well. He begins killing the comedians and stealing their clues. Batman and Robin try to save the comedians from death, but Joker eventually obtains all the clues and locates the hidden fortune. Batman prevents the theft after escaping one of Joker’s death traps. Then he finishes off the Harlequin of Hate.  Or does he?     POPULATION REPORT BELOW (AS OF 3 JUN 2016):
