Batman: The Cult 1-4 Set (1988) 1st Print 9.4-9.8

Up for your consideration  is an ABSOULTELY gorgeous set of Prestige Format Books.  The Cult is a brutal, dark story, but it's absolutely enthralling.  Batman has rarely been pushed to these limits and it's refreshing to see that it's not some hokey plot involving people from Bruce's childhood. This is Batman at his lowest and it takes a good 50 pages for him to recover even after he's free of the cult.

Interestingly, The Cult also features Jason Todd as Robin and is most likely the only Todd trade outside of A Death in the Family. For once he's not annoying. This is certainly his strongest performance, one last hoorah before death.

This is Starlin and Wrightson at their finest. While everyone clamors to read Year One and The Long Halloween, comic fans should take the time to pick up Batman: The Cult. This is easily one of the best Batman stories every told.

ALL SCANS AND PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK. NO STOCK PHOTOS!

These books feature:

  • Unopened/Unread, The bead on the Square Bound Spines have never been broken
  • Virtually Flawless Original Cover Color and Gloss
  • Sharp edges and very nice corners
  • Super clean sharp White Pages

These Prestige Format books were VERY susceptible to nicks and dings, and due to their high gloss premium covers, Fingerprints and smudges. Plus the fact that once  these books were opened, it would break the bead on the square bound spine which would instantly reduce their grade.

As a 30 year serious collector with an obsessive compulsive disorder for truly high grade comic books I base my strict grading on one THING,  Can the book pull the said grade from Third Party Graders Like CGC, PGX and CBGS.

Ive submitted many books for grading and I have also cracked out plenty of CGC books for my personal collection over the years. All four books are Brand New and virtually flawsless books. While CGC doesn't down grade for it, I gave issue #1 a 9.4 NM for the slight off centered cover. Issues #2, 3, & 4 all are without question nice enough to be considered for 9.8 books.

There is no shortage of Ebay overgraders out there. I will put this book up against ANY other book on Ebay with said grade, and that includes ANY CGC, PGX or CBGS Book.

My favorite Ebay seller Overgrader Quotes:

  • "Im not a professional Grader"
  • "Please see scans to determine the grade for yourself"
  • "Estate Sale Find"

Now for Packaging and Shipping,  I receive more damaged books from Ebay sellers due to poor packaging even though they claim to be secure packers and shippers.

Only to receive a bent up book, sloppily packaged with cut up Priority mail boxes that are simply NOT strong enough to survive the rigors on the US Postal System!

I take ABSOLUTELY great pride in packaging books in a professional manner using strong rigid cardboard and packing materials. All my books are bagged and Boarded with fresh new bags and boards.  Book will be secured between two STRONG RIGID pieces of cardboard cut 1 inch larger than the book on ALL four sides, Inside a heavily taped shipping packet so that there is absolutely no movement of the book.

COMBINED SHIPPING: $6.00 Flat Fee no matter how many books you buy.

Canadian Shipping is $15
