We we’re recently approached to help liquidate a collection of approximately 7000 comic books and graphic novels. These are all from the collection of one private collector who recently passed away. It appears that he began the collection in the 1980’s and purchased most of the collection new when they were first issued. The new release comic books were then placed in archival grade comic bags and stored away, most of them never having ever been read. These comics would fall into the NM category as far as condition goes. There are also several issues that were purchased in multiples so it appears that he was collecting as an investment. There is also a chunk of the collection made up of older (pre 1980’s) comic books that were purchased as back issues. For these the conditions very greatly however as soon as they were obtained they were also placed in archival grade comic bags and stored away. I have divided the entire collection up into several lots that are all currently up for bidding so please check out the rest of my auctions as there is a good chance there are more comic books that will interest you, As well I am offering shipping discounts for multiple purchases to US based bidders (see below for details). Please note that although I did work in the comic industry (as well as collected comic books) for several years that was many, many years ago and it appears that since that time the grading procedure for comic books has evolved and become much more precise. I have attempted to describe the conditions as best as I can however most modern collectors will find my grading procedure to be somewhat vague compared to current standards. Please look at the included pictures carefully before bidding. Feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them. If you are not sure that the condition of the comic book(s) is to your desired condition then please do not bid without first asking for clarification.
