Seller's Estimate: USD 0 - 0

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 Curator Pedigree (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. An absolute highlight of the auction! It's without a doubt one of the top five Silver Age comics we have offered in our 15 years of auctions, and very possibly number one. The freshness of this copy is remarkable! But it won't be surprising to anyone familiar with the Curator Pedigree collection, the quality of which ranks it among the top two or three Silver Age collections in the minds of most collectors. White pages are the rule rather than the exception for this pedigree, but that page quality is anything but a given for copies of Spider-Man #1 -- of the eight copies we have sold to date in grades higher than 7.0, not one has been certified with white pages! We need say no more to the longtime collector, but since we think this lot will even pique the interest of those outside the hobby, a word about the significance of the issue: In addition to being the first issue of the most-collected series in the hobby, it is the second appearance of Spider-Man and the first appearance of supporting characters John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson, and the Chameleon. Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko are credited with the cover. Overstreet 2016 NM- 9.2 value = $62,000. CGC census 11/16: 5 in 9.6, 1 higher.
