Original Comic Art Commission of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic 4) by Marvel Comics artist Joe Sinnott
This is a complete pencil, full-figure commission drawing of Fantastic Four leader Reed Richards. It was done by the legendary Marvel Comics inker Joe Sinnott.
Joe is, without a doubt, one of the best inkers that comics has ever seen. He began his career at Marvel Comics working on virtually every title. He continues working on Marvel characters to this day, notably, the Sunday Spiderman strip. He is famous for his amazing inking over Jack Kirby. Stan Lee fondly remembers being "assaulted" by pencillers who insisted that only Joe ink over their artwork. He was the most in demand inker in comics but, would stay and remain faithful to Marvel for his entire career---65 years worth!
Joe is best known for his long run on the Fantastic Four, from 1965 to 1987----initially inking over Jack Kirby.
Sadly, not enough people know that Joe's abilities extend far beyond his inking. He is as good a penciller as any comic artist then or now. He has created his own books chronicling the lives of famous people as diverse as the Pope and Jimi Hendrix. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2013 and, his art appeared on 2 US Postal Service Commemorative stamps in 2007.
Joe is mostly retired now. His only professional work these days is the Sunday Spiderman strip. He recently announced he would not be accepting any more commissions and, he will only do only limited sketches at conventions, based on how he feels. Remember, he is 88 years old and hasn't had a break in 65 years!
This piece is in excellent condition. It measures 10 1/2 x 14 1/2. Please note: Joe personalized it "To Ken, All Best" when I bought it directly from him in 1998. Please refer to photos for this condition.
