Long term storage in a Mylar bag with an acid-free board
until submission to CGC in November of 2018!!
This issue was bagged and boarded since purchase and (since 1990, when I learned about the superior results attainable with archival storage products and moved my entire collection into those products) it was preserved in a thick archival Mylar bag with a heavy-weight acid-free board, and stored in my smoke-free, pet-free, climate-controlled home. It was removed from its Mylar bag for the first time by CGC!! I submitted it to CGC to be graded and encased and it was returned, with a 4.5 Grade, at the end of January 2019 (Check out the SPECIAL NOTE regarding condition, and the COMPLETE text of the CGC Grader Notes for this copy - both specified below!!) This copy, both before and after processing by CGC, NEVER has spent a single day in an attic, basement or storage unit, (and it NEVER will as long as I own it!) Since I received it from CGC it has been stored in, and it will be shipped to its new owner in, its CGC-issued protective polybag.
SPECIAL NOTE: In my teenage years, I used to get a TON of exercise riding my bike to FIVE different nearby towns to check out what was on the racks every week at 8 to 10 'Candy Stores' and 'Stationery Stores' and Drug Stores which carried comics, obsessively seeking out the nicest copies of new comics that I could find. I particularly remember the day when I found this significantly blemished copy of Marvel Super-Heroes #12 and - despite visiting ALL the other stores I frequented weekly - I never found a BETTER copy. Now - a half century later - I am REALLY kicking myself after seeing that a 9.8 copy of this SAME book sold on eBay for $14,500 on 2/17/19!! (I shoulda pedaled to five MORE towns looking for a great copy of THIS one!!) Chances are that you're not going to be picking up a 9.8 anytime soon, but - if you'd like an otherwise VERY NICE looking copy, which DOES have a significant front cover blemish, for less than 1.2% the cost of that 9.8 copy - this might be the copy for you!!)
Note that the photos used in this listing are not stock images. They are images of the exact copy being offered for sale. The photos show the covers, the CGC Grade and issue-content information, and all the corners, edges and ends of the new and unblemished CGC case. Check out other CGC-graded copies available for sale and recently sold on eBay, and compare their pix to the ones in this listing, and you'll see for YOURSELF that - despite its significant front-cover blemish - it's an otherwise really NICE looking copy for a CGC 4.5!! The CGC Grader Notes specified nothing except the ONE MAJOR blemish that resulted in the 4.5 grade. The notes stated (in their entirety): "scratch full left of front cover". With a single noted blemish that you can closely evaluate in the 12 high resolution photos I've included with the listing - I think that you may come to the conclusion that this copy is WORTHY of your consideration!!
