Description

MICKEY MOUSE MAGAZINE VOLUME 5 NUMBER #12 (K.K. PUBLICATIONS 1940).   KEY BOOK:  (LAST ISSUE) TRANSITION in format.  68 pages. Some would consider this book to be "Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #0 because it precedes the first issue and it's the first book in the "Comics and Stories" format.  The CGC census only shows 13 copies of this book and one of those is a ".5" rag.  (The census shows 76 copies of WDC&S #1 for comparison).  A special feature of this magazine for CARL BARKS fans is a nine page story called "The Window Cleaners" (see photos).  It represents some of the earliest Barks work on Donald Duck.  This book is extremely hard-to-find in any grade.  GOOD-VERY GOOD (3.0) condition.

This is complete but lower grade copy of this magazine with bright color and impressive original luster.  The spine shows a lot of wear with a 1 1/2" split at the bottom and a number of small tears at or near the spine.  Despite the tattered look, there are no chunks out and the paper is supple with no signs of brittleness.  These characteristics make this copy a good candidate for restoration.   The cover is detached at the bottom staple and there is tearing at the other two staples.  All 3 staples firmly bind all interior pages (centerfold photo provided). At the top of the cover there are some date stamp impressions.  The interior pages look cream to light tan and there is no writing or coloring anywhere.  It's also remarkably clean with no stains or soiling.

Shipping is free to the United States.  Shipping will be combined for multiple purchases.
