Collector demand for this issue, in which Wolverine makes his first full appearance in a battle royal against the Hulk, is insatiable. Next to Spider-Man, Wolverine has emerged as the most popular superhero in the Marvel Universe. Shortly after this issue, Wolverine appeared in Giant-Size X-men #1 and became a permanent part of the most exciting superhero team of the last three decades, and of course has gone on to star in multiple top-selling Marvel titles.

This pristine CGC 9.8 Near Mint/Mint is the second highest graded for an example of this issue, with only 1 example certified slightly higher at 9.9 that sold for $150,000 at auction. Adding to the desirability of this particular 9.8,  an older label when grading standards seemed to be much tougher so this is one of the very best 9.8s attainable.
