Welcome to Marlinspike Collectables. My aim is to sell the widest and most comprehensive range of Tintin collectables anywhere in the UK. These will include original Herge drawings, original signed Herge books, rare original Petit Vingtieme / Tintin Journals, Tintin First Editions in both English and French plus other collectables including figurines, cars, cups & plates, T Shirts, posters, framed First Edition plates, a wide range of Tintin books including some very rare items and many other items.

A very rare Herge signed / autographed note with an illustration of Tintin and Snowy. The note is in response to a letter sent by the original owner to Herge wishing him well as he had been laid low by a bout of illness. Herge writes "Herge is very touched by your kind wishes. He sends you his thanks and this souvenir of friendship" - note this is my interpretive translation of the original French. The note is on poor quality paper and the writing by a fountain pen I would guess, with a rather scratchy nib. It comes with the original envelope postmarked Brussels with the Tintin and Snowy logo in the corner. Although I have seen several Tintin and Snowy drawings given by Herge as gifts, this is the first one I have seen with such a personal dedication. A rare item indeed.
Provenance is always very important when buying original signed items and in this case could hardly better. The owner's father corresponded with Herge intermittently over many years and has in his possession several other signed items including both drawings received in correspondence and books signed when he met Herge at various Book Launches and Fairs in the 1960s and 1970s. Some of these other items will also be listed for sale shortly. I guarantee that this item is genuine and provide a certificate of authenticity to that effect - if, for any reason, you should not be entirely satisfied with the item when you receive it, you may return for a full refund.
