Disney 1943 Framed Mickey Mouse Original Comic Strip Art Lay Out Ink Drawings

You are bidding on a wonderful and very exceptional auction, a total of 12 cells to complete a page of the Disney 1943 Original Comic Strip of the iconic character Mickey Mouse.   The Art Lay Out Ink Drawings are of a character that Mickey played called "Billy the Mouse." a cowboy hero. The piece was professionally matted and framed for an extensive special gallery exhibit in Barcelona and Madrid Spain in 1994-1995 from the Basmajian collection.

The drawings are original, on card stock and not reproduced, and were used as part of the comic strip production process dated 1943. Each of the drawings show pencils marks, blue production coloring, white out and black ink markings in each cell. The art work was produced on other card stock paper and then cut & glued onto the main cardstock, with scenes being completed on each cell. The story was written by Bill Walsh. The pencil art work was by Floyd Gottfredson and inked by Dick Mooress.

This item and others to follow in the coming days are from the estate of Disney animator John Basmajian.  This particular piece was displayed in the gallery exhibit of Disney art work in Barcelona and Madrid Spain from the Basmajian collection. The exhibition was called "The Magical World of Mickey Mouse", which began in Madrid, Spain, November 10, 1994 at Cuartel Conde Duque and concluded June 4, 1995 at the Central Comercial L’lli in Barcelona, Spain. Catalog number T-582, WDC -64 p. 48. This piece was retained by the family since the exhibit.  The art piece measures approx 15" X 24"  There is no moisture damage.
