Detective Comics #140 CGC 6.5 FN+ (Oct 1948, DC) Batman in the Origin & 1st Appearance Riddler"The Prince of Puzzles, The Riddler!" (Edward Nigma)
This comic has been graded 6.5 FN+ by CGC, it has cream to off white pages.  The graders notes state, "Moderate tanning interior cover, shadow full bottom of front cover, shadow full top of back cover, small, multiple crease full top of back cover, spine stress lines."  I would add that there is a pencil notation at the center of the front cover. This comic has not been restored.
The current CGC census only lists 21 of this comic graded higher than 6.5 (125 total in the Universal category).  This is a no reserve auction for one of the the most desirable comics. It is included in all top 100 lists.  Very few have sold in recent years making this is a must have classic!
From Wikipedia- "Puzzle expert Edward Nigma cheats at puzzles.  He uses that angle to create a costumed criminal identity for himself, the Riddler.  Using puzzle clues, he tips Batman off to his crimes.  The Caped Crusader solves the Riddler's puzzles then tries to capture his tricky foe.

These comics were all owned by one boy who collected them in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.  He lived in the same home all his life and kept the comics in stacks in a storage room.  Some have sun shadows from being exposed to light across one edge, some do not.  We are trying our best to describe each one fully in the listing.  Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction.
