Description
Up for bid is a lot of 10 Silver Age Captain America comics. Issues and conditions are as follows:
102 = Very Good Plus (4.5; looks nicer but is missing upper right corner tip and some right edge chipping (difficult to see because of white cover) and some back cover chipping and tearing)
103 = Very Good (4.0; looks nicer but has 1.5-inch upper spine split and back cover missing 1-inch by ¼ inch upper edge chunk)
105 = Fine (6.0)
108 = Very Good/Fine (5.0)
112 (Origin issue) = Very Good Plus (4.5)
114 = Fine Minus (5.5)
116 (last 12-cent issue) = Very Good Minus (3.5; looks nicer but has 1-inch lower spine split and some back cover moisture stains)
118 (2nd app. Falcon) = Very Good Plus (4.5)
119 (3rd app. Falcon) = Fine (6.0)
120 (last Silver Age issue) = Apparent Very Fine (8.0); Actual Very Good/Fine (5.0; upper staple is detached from cover)
Grading: I use Overstreet's Comic Book Grading Guide (2016 ed.) as well as 30+ years of collecting experience to grade. I also have several CGC, PGX, and CBCS books that I use for reference. I try to be accurate with grading, but there is always some subjectivity, and hence variability, involved. For example, I have a CGC 8.5 Wolverine #4 with no visible flaws except for one spine stress mark. However, I also have a CGC 9.0 Swamp Thing #1 with two stress marks and a small corner crease. Personally, I think the 8.5 Wolverine looks better, which illustrates my point.
Generally, I spend more time and effort grading high grade books than low grade books. For example, I will agonize for long minutes about whether to grade something an 8.0 versus a 9.0 because the difference and value can be large on a high-end book. On the other hand, I won't spend much time trying to distinguish between a 2.0 and 3.0.
If unhappy with my grading, I will refund the purchase price; however, the buyer pays return shipping unless he/she can make a good argument that I really blew it on the grading.
Comics will be securely packed and individually bagged and boarded.
Shipping is $4.60 by Media Mail within the U.S. I do combine shipping (usually an extra $.50 or $1 per additional auction win); however, please wait for a combined invoice.
All international sales are handled through Ebay’s Global Shipping Program, and I have no control over those shipping charges.
Payment is due within 4 days unless you make other arrangements with me through Ebay messages. I am not shy about filing nonpaying bidder cases, so if you don’t plan to pay, please don’t bid.
